I left the state where everything is bigger for the biggest state! Born and raised in Texas, I’m thrilled to be here, exploring the Last Frontier!
Though I’d never set foot in Alaska, when I got the opportunity to be a part of the KTVA team, I couldn’t resist. I packed my life into my car headed North, towards the World Famous Alaska Highway. Six days later when I arrived in Anchorage, even though I’d left my home, I felt like I was coming home. My news team might hear me drop the occasional “Y’all,” but I’ve also already picked up new lingo like, “The Lower 48.”
My Bachelor’s degree in Convergence Journalism from Southern Methodist University prepared me for my first job as a news reporter at the CBS affiliate in Sherman, Texas, near where I grew up. During my time there I covered stories all over North Texas and Southern Oklahoma, including the deadly NCTC Bus Crash, tornadoes, and I witnessed and reported on the lethal injection of the oldest death row inmate executed in Texas.
I love telling stories that matter to my community, so if you have a story idea, send it my way! And even if you just want to say hi, I’d love to hear from you: firstname.lastname@example.org
