Republican Dan Sullivan has been sworn in as Alaska’s new U.S. senator.
Sullivan’s swearing in took place Tuesday morning in Washington, D.C. Tuesday also marked the start of the new congressional session.
The ceremony was broadcast on C-SPAN2. Sullivan, who defeated incumbent Sen. Mark Begich in the November election, walked side-by-side with Sen. Lisa Murkowski before standing in front of Vice President Joe Biden, who administered the oath.
“Thank you again for all of your incredible support throughout the campaign!” Sullivan posted on his official Facebook page with a link to the live C-SPAN2 ceremony.
In a followup mock swearing-in ceremony (seen above), Sullivan was joined by his wife, Julie.
