Fans get a taste of what it took to win
ANCHORAGE – You may have seen them on the Food Network. A duo of Alaskan bakers proved their sweets are better than the rest on a recent episode of “Cupcake Wars.”
But what’s all the fuss about?
For Kastle Sorenson and Amy Grue, their variety helps them shine. Thursday was the first time people could buy all the flavors the two featured on the show, including a salmon-flavored cupcake.
“No one has tried a cupcake with salmon in it. Coming from Alaska, I think it’s just a cool concept,” said Kastle Sorenson, owner of Kastle’s Kreations.
People waiting in line to try the desserts have to wonder, is a salmon cupcake crazy … or crazy good?
“It’s good enough to eat the whole thing,” said cupcake fanatic Kristen Dilley.
“The tanginess of the cream cheese and smokiness of the salmon, it works,” another fan said.
Salmon is the 100th flavor on Kastle’s Kreations extensive list of cupcake recipes, and Sorenson and Grue love sharing their experiments with others.
The salmon cupcake will be on Kastle’s Kreation’s regular rotation from now on.
