One speaker says disc golf is key
ANCHORAGE – What would make Anchorage a better place to live?
Tonight, a group of invited speakers will share their ideas at a unique forum hosted by local community councils. Speakers include a former mayor, a political organizer and Tim Kosednar. Kosednar is a local resident who believes that better access to his favorite sport would make Anchorage a better place.
“I’ll ask them to look around and see if they can find a spot to put disc golf in their community,” Kosednar said.
Kosednar is an avid disc golf player with the discs to prove it. He owns about 200. He helped to design several of the disc golf courses in town and believes more are needed. He says disc golf is a sport that can encourage not just athleticism, but better citizens.
“It emphasizes fairness and teamwork. It’s doing your very best without breaking the rules or cheating to win,” Kosednar said. “No one wants to play with people who cheat, not only in recreation, but life, it’s kind of a big life lesson.”
Kosednar will make his pitch for disc golf Monday night along with seven other invited speakers.
The forum starts at 6:30 p.m.
