As Gov. Palin campaigns in the Lower 48, Alaskans are demanding she do something about several statewide crises: a mass migration, a struggling charter industry and a demand for our state attorney general to step down.

With the state's top executive preoccupied with a national election, the bulk of state business falls on the shoulders of her administration.

Wednesday morning was a busy one for the governor's office, with two groups, charter fishermen and Alaskans for Truth, demanding action from both Palin and her people.

More than 2,000 people, including at least 1,000 Alaskans - have signed the petition.

The Charter Halibut Task Force said it has been trying to meet with Palin for months to reverse the one-fish limit ruling. They say, the decision is devastating coastal communities.

Then there's also the urgent request from the Anchorage superintendent and the mayor, asking the governor to do something to stem the mass migration from rural Alaska. Spokesman Bill McAllister said the issue is being addressed by several of the governor's staff members.

As for the demand that Colberg step down and the charter industry's plight, McAllister says the governor has been made aware of the problems.
