This week, CBS 11 News is attempting to stay out of the gutter and just right of the head pin as we take the day off with Anchorage school kids.
It's hard to know how to feel about our crazy weather.
"I like it since it's
not as cold any more, like the -30 degrees, but I don't like it becuase it's wet, but then I do like it because it freezes at night and we get to miss school," says Melanie Barenstein.Since Anchorage kids just recently enjoyed a six day weekend, we knew just the place to get out and join in the fun...the Dimond Mall.
While you're roaming the mall, head downstairs across from the ice rink to Dimond Bowl and fill up on this classic American sport and pastime.
If your like most of us, strikes are more a matter of luck than skill. I figure maybe my form is lacking so I'll try any style I can, like left-handed or two-handed bowling, to better my odds but it always seems like I stil leave one pin behind.
"What's really
"It's just fun and I like throwing big heavy things!" adds Barenstein.
If the occasional game isn't enough, there's league play on Thursday nights and the lanes open up to start the weekends for youth leagues.
"[The youth leagues are] Saturday from 8:00 to 10:00 or 11:00, depending on when you finish. It's
a two man team and after the leagues done we go out and have pizza or something and get trophies," says Keegan Castle, a youth league bowler and emplyee at Dimond Bowl.Dimond Bowl is open every day with special events like neon bowling and colored pin bowling to win free games during the week.
