On Wednesday they told CBS 11 News the defeated ballot measure is only the first round in a long fight to stop the Pebble Mine. They say, even though the initiative was defeated by 57 percent to 43 percent, more than 71,000 Alaskans voted yes and a new awareness of the issue was created.
Alaskans for Clean Water also say the role the state played in the election, with the governor and the Department of Natural Resources supporting the no vote, worked against Ballot Measure 4.
