First it was the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail that got a major facelift, and now, another popular trail is about to get its turn. The Chester Creek Trail will be completely repaved by the end of next summer.
Phase one of the project will start in early July and run from Westchester Lagoon to Valley of the Moon Park. Project Manager Maeve Nevins said the five-and-a-half-mile trail is 20 years old and showing its age.
The work will include the repave of several spur trails and adding a two-foot-wide shoulder along the paths. Lighting in tunnels will also be upgraded. Cost for the entire project is close to $4 million, Maeve said.
People can expect to see detour signs while the work is underway, Maeve said. Phase one should be finished by the end of August.
