Three planes “may have been lost” in the blaze, borough officials said.
ANCHORAGE – Eight emergency responders were taken to a local hospital Tuesday morning after a fire at a Butte airplane hanger.
According to a statement from the Matanuska-Susitna Borough, the call came in around 2 a.m. Crews from the Butte and Palmer Fire Departments arrived at the hanger at 17901 E. Maude Rd. shortly thereafter. Four Palmer firefighters, three Butte firefighters and one medic were screened for smoke inhalation at Mat-Su Regional Hospital.
Borough Public Affairs Director Patty Sullivan said one responder was admitted to the hospital for treatment. Three planes “may have been lost” in the blaze, borough officials said, and the incident remains under investigation by the State Fire Marshal.
