Schools on the edge are the focus of our Frontiers program this week. We went to Bristol Bay and profiled two villages. Clark’s Point recently lost their school and Twin Hills would be in danger of being closed if a plan to raise the state’s minimum enrollment from 10 to 25 ever happens.
Like Bristol Bay, the Southeast Island School District would be one of the hardest hit, if minimum enrollment is bumped to 25. In the web extra, Superintendent Lauren Burch joins us from our sister station in Juneau to talk more about the potential impact.
The program airs on Sunday, February 7 at 10:30 p.m. Please note we do not air at our scheduled time of 4:30 p.m. because of the Super Bowl.
