The Frontiers crew had a great time putting this photo gallery together. There are so many fun stories. Anya Shuda is an itinerant counselor from the Lower Kuskokwim School District. She made kuspuks for each school complete with school colors and the mascot. Another woman defended her thesis wearing a kuspuk from her grandmother.
Some (not all) of the photos will be featured in Frontiers on Sunday, Oct. 11 at 4:30 and 10:30 p.m. The program previews the upcoming AFN gathering that kicks off Oct. 15. Additionally, reporter Sierra Starks features local kuspuk maker Bridget Kline and examines the history of one of Alaska’s favorite garments.
