Bill calls for creation of central records website

By Associated Press 7:52 AM February 25, 2014

Site could also include municipal public records

JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) – A Sitka lawmaker has proposed legislation calling for a central website for state agency public records.

The proposal, from Democratic Rep. Jonathan Kreiss-Tomkins, calls for the state Department of Administration to develop and operate a website that would contain all the public records of state agencies that existed in electronic format on Dec. 31, 2014. The site also would pertain to records developed or received by state agencies or contractors working for state agencies after Jan. 1.

The bill says the department may include public records of a municipality on the site if the municipality requests that.
