Would allow municipalities the option of banning the use of cellphones while driving in a school zone or on school property
JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) – A proposed bill has been advanced by a legislative committee allowing municipalities to place stipulations on the use of cellphones for Alaska drivers.
The Senate Community and Regional Affairs Committee approved the measure allowing municipalities the option of banning the use of cellphones while driving in a school zone or on school property.
The state has to pass enabling legislation in order for municipalities to have such an option since state law stipulates all traffic laws must be uniform across Alaska.
