Bicyclist killed in Healy hit-and-run, driver arrested

By KTVA CBS 11 News 3:45 PM June 12, 2014

HEALY – A woman found in a ditch along Healy Spur Road Thursday morning was killed while riding her bike to work, according to Alaska State Troopers.

Gitte Stryhn, 56, was discovered just before 7 a.m., and troopers said she died after being struck by a vehicle that subsequently left the scene.

The vehicle – a 2010 Dodge Ram 2500 – was discovered parked outside a residence by troopers at around 10 a.m. Damage to the vehicle’s front end matched debris found at the scene of the crash, according to trooper dispatch.

The owner of the vehicle, 30-year-old Dustin Dollarhide, of Healy, was questioned about the incident and subsequently arrested on charges of manslaughter, failure to report an accident and DUI. He has been sent to Fairbanks Correctional Facility.

Personnel from the Alaska Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Highway Patrol investigated the scene, according to trooper dispatch.
