When the Riverview Rams boys basketball team boarded a plane in Sarasota, Florida, they had no idea what what was waiting for them in Alaska. Most players had never seen snow, and some had never flown on a plane.

The Alaska Airlines Classic basketball tournament at West Anchorage High School gave them an excuse to visit the 49th state. While here, the Rams experienced the Alaska Zoo, the Anchorage Museum and the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center in Portage.
The team is one of the more prestigious Florida prep basketball programs, finishing last year’s season as state runner-up. The annual Alaska Airlines Classic prides itself on mixing top in-state teams with quality competition from outside Alaska. Riverview topped host school West in the tournament final.
While the championship win was a plus, the complete Alaska experience and memories created will last a lifetime.
