The Anchorage Police Department says AT&T cell phone customers may not be able to reach 911 until nationwide issues are resolved.
Police said in an alert around 6 p.m. Wednesday evening that 911 calls weren’t getting through from AT&T phones.
“Until AT&T has resolved this issue, you’ll need to call the police dispatch business line to get an operator,” police said.
At 6:10 p.m., police issued a second statement saying, “It appears that 9-1-1 calls made with cell phones that have AT&T service are now working.”
AT&T customers continuing to experience problems calling 911 can reach police at 907-786-8900. Press 0 for the operator.
Phones from other cellular providers do not appear to be affected.
