'Super Saturday' considered the second-biggest shopping day of the year
ANCHORAGE – With Christmas in just a few days, it’s crunch time for shoppers.
They were in full force at the mall Saturday — which is considered the busiest shopping day of the year behind Black Friday, according to ShopperTrak. That’s why shopping centers like downtown-based Anchorage Fifth Avenue Mall were taking advantage of the big day. Some retailers were offering big discounts to last-minute shoppers.
National retailers are expecting revenue to be down this year compared to 2012, according to ShopperTrak. The shopper insight company blames the economy, worries about Obamacare and online shopping.
