Thirty artists work to raise awareness about marine pollution
ANCHORAGE – A new exhibit at the Anchorage Museum is looking to shed light on a trashy trend.
“Gyre: The Plastic Ocean” features colorful, creative displays made primarily from plastics abandoned in the world’s oceans. Circling marine currents — called gyres — can carry garbage thousands of miles between coasts.
For the next seven months, the works of 30 artists will be displayed at the museum, raising awareness about the impacts of marine trash on the land the the people who live there.
