Arctic Valley Ski Area open for business

By Shannon Ballard 5:38 PM January 10, 2014

Conditions are marginal, volunteers say

ANCHORAGE – Arctic Valley Ski Area will finally fire up its lifts.

Saturday is the ski area’s grand opening, but volunteers who run the slope said the conditions aren’t great. Riders can expect to see plenty of rocks, but there is enough snow to operate the T-bar and Chair 2.

Even with the snow Artic Valley is expecting to get through the weekend, it still won’t have enough to open its tube park.

The ski area will be open 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sunday.
