A 22-year-old woman was killed Wednesday morning after she asked a neighbor to call Anchorage police.
Officers with the Anchorage Police Department were called to the 5600 block of Lake Otis Parkway at 2:22 a.m. When they arrived, they discovered Brittanymae P. Haag with a gunshot wound. She was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead, APD wrote in a release.
Haag’s boyfriend was also taken to the hospital for treatment for a life-threatening gunshot wound. Police have not released his identity but said he and Haag shared the residence they were found in.
APD said no one has been arrested. Police believe they made contact with everyone involved in the deadly shooting.
“The public should know that there is not a safety risk at this point,” APD homicide unit Lt. Cmdr John McKinnon explained. “We are not looking for anyone else, the public is not at risk. The police are investigating. We’ve got multiple detectives that have been on this since about 2:30 this (Wednesday) morning. We are questioning people and talking to them about what they may know, but there are no outstanding suspects that we are looking for.”
Haag’s family has been notified.
APD said they’ll release more information as it becomes available.
