Andrea Gusty
Andrea Gusty can be seen reporting weeknights on CBS 11 News at 5 and 6 with Dave Stroh and Laura Oates. Andrea joined the CBS 11 family in October 2005, after interning at KULR 8 in Billings, Montana.

A graduate of the Medill Journalism School at Northwestern University, Andrea earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcast Journalism, and returned to Alaska to pursue her dreams of reporting on Alaska Native issues in the mainstream media.

Andrea is the recipient of two Alaska Broadcaster's Association Awards in the Best Feature and Uniquely Alaskan categories. She also received a Native American Journalist's Association Award for exploring the impacts of methamphetamines on women in Montana's prisons.

An Alaska Native, Andrea grew up in Aniak, a village of 600 on the Kuskokwim River. Andrea says even though it's a bit cliché, her hero is her mother Cheryl, who she looks to for guidance and strength.

Andrea lives in Anchorage with her two dogs, Caden and Otis, who are convinced they are human. She says she doesn't have the heart to tell them otherwise.
