Matt joined CBS 11 News in May 2006. Previously, he spent four years at the CBS affiliate in Greenville/Spartanburg, South Carolina, and has also been an anchor/reporter for numerous radio stations. His work has been featured on CNN, the Weather Channel, CBS's affiliate service called NewsPath, and CBS Radio News.
You can call Matt a Saluki and he won't be offended. That's the mascot of his alma mater, Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, where he graduated with a degree in broadcast news and a minor in history.
Matt has won numerous awards for his journalism including the Edward R. Murrow Award for his continuing coverage of the Carolina Investors scandal in South Carolina. He was nominated for an Emmy for his live, breaking news coverage of a hotel fire that killed six people. The Associated Press and South Carolina Broadcasters Association have also recognized his work. In addition, Matt was among a select group awarded a scholarship in college from the Radio-Television News Directors Association.
A resident of Midtown, Matt loves hiking along the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail, sampling all the diverse dining experiences Anchorage has to offer, and watching films.
