More than a dozen flights diverted due to weather conditions
ANCHORAGE – More than a dozen flights were diverted from Anchorage Friday night because of nasty weather conditions, officials said.
The flights bound for Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport instead went to the Kenai Municipal and Fairbanks International airports, said Ted Stevens airport manager John Parrott. About 14 flights were diverted.
Friday’s winter storm made for rough landing conditions, he said.
At no point was the airport shut down, Parrott said, and operations returned to normal Saturday.
