Alaska abortion case to continue in May

By KTVA CBS 11 News 2:59 PM February 8, 2014

Debate over 'medically necessary' definition

ANCHORAGE – The lawsuit over the state’s new abortion laws won’t be decided anytime soon.

Friday, representatives from Planned Parenthood, the Center for Reproductive Rights and the ACLU met with state representatives to schedule when the case should continue. Both parties agreed to the beginning of May.

Earlier this week a judge granted Planned Parenthood a temporary restraining order that put the state’s new abortion regulations on hold until the case concludes.

Those regulations define a “medically necessary abortion only in cases of rape, incest or those that pose a serious threat to the woman’s health.
