Team is on lengthiest road trip of the season
Update, Wednesday 3 p.m.
The Aces announced today that they signed rookie defenseman Jason Cohen. He will join the team tonight against the Utah Grizzlies, according to a press release.
Cohen, 25, is the fifth player on the Aces roster with “hometown ties to the Anchorage area,” the release said.
ANCHORAGE – The Alaska Aces (11-5) are on their longest road trip of the season. The team will play eight games in 21 days while they play through their division of the ECHL West Conference.
Last week they dropped two to the Colorado Grizzlies. Wednesday the Aces start a three-game series in Utah.
Coach Rob Murray said this road trip helps build his team on and off the ice.
“You’re living with the same guy every day and it’s a grind,” Murray said.
The team had a road stint like this twice before, and Coach Murray said even though it maybe slightly cliché, it really is all about winning one game at a time when you’re on the road for nearly a month.
“We need to plug away, make sure we get rest when we can and have fun on the road,” he said.
From Utah the Aces will play three games in Idaho before heading back to Anchorage.
Their first December game in Sullivan Arena is Dec. 18 against Utah.
