Aces win 5-1ANCHORAGE –
The Alaska Aces dominated Las Vegas on home ice in the first round of the Western Conference quarterfinals Friday evening.
This is the first time the Aces have played at home in over a month and they displayed their high-octane offense with more than 4,000 people in attendance at the Sully.
Team captain Nick Mazzolini set the tone by scoring the first goal. Jordan Morrison also had a pair of goals and goaltender Gerald Coleman had 19 saves.
Also in the league tonight: Stockton beat Ontario 3-1, Bakersfield took one over Utah 1-0, Idaho beat Colorado 2-1 and Wheeling got a 3-0 victory over South Carolina.
Saturday is Game 2 of the Kelly Cup playoffs in the Western Conference quarterfinals. The Aces will take on the Wranglers again at the Sullivan Arena. The puck drops at 7:15 p.m. The best-of-seven series moves to Vegas Wednesday.
